Operating system data is a set of functions which allows a variety of software to run efficiently on computers. The functions support functions like managing processes, memory management, device management and file systems, as well security and monitoring of performance.

The primary function of the OS is managing CPU time and hardware resources. The OS determines which programs get the processor’s attention and regulates how programs interact with one in order to not interfere with each other.
