August 11, 2024It is incredibly rewarding to take action and transform one’s ideas into a lucrative business. Entrepreneurship allows people to create careers that are in direct alignment with their values, such as helping others or preserving the environment, and thereby provide an emotional and mental satisfaction that other jobs cannot.
Entrepreneurship is a complex social phenomenon that requires complex interactions between humans and their social environments in which they live, work and play, as well as learn. It is therefore often seen as a major subject of study within the social sciences. It is also an interdisciplinary subject that draws on the disciplines of anthropology, law and public policy, as well as sociology and management.
In this article, we outline the research on entrepreneurial education for students who are not business-related and propose an interdisciplinary framework for current research based on four dimensions of social learning – observational learning, the role played by mentors and peers and the entrepreneurial ecosystem as a platform for social learning, and the role of institutions in influences on learning. We further discuss how this framework can be used in a more systematic manner to guide research and the development of education in entrepreneurship in the future. We also present a comprehensive analysis of bibliometrics, supported by VOSviewer and Bibliometrix which highlight the most prominent authors, institutions, countries, seminar articles journals, topics, and seminar articles. This provides a complete and detailed understanding of the state of the field. The analysis also offers information on future research areas and knowledge gaps.
